An Acid Rod or “Spiral Wrapped Rod” is a conventional or casting rod with guides that start out on top of the blank and then rotate around the rod leaving the final guides and tip under the blank. In a nutshell, this guide placement reduces torque allowing you to fight larger fish on lighter tackle with less fatigue. See all Acid Wrap rods
We have designed and built the Florida series for Florida fishermen by Florida Fishermen. The spinning rods were built and tested in Mosquito Lagoon by Capt. Scott Tripp, on of the top guides in the region for “reds” and trout. The sailfish rods were designed by Sammy, the first mate on The Wet Dream Fishing Team in Key Largo. Every rod we build is hand-built. We spine every blank making sure the natural and parabolic curve are exact. We then perform a guide–deflection test ensuring the guides are placed exactly where they should go; not a pre–set jig system. We under–wrap the double guide feet and over them twice using a very high quality thread. We then apply a “UV” filtering slow-dry epoxy over the thread, to ensure the Sun’s harmful UV rays don’t breakdown the epoxy when you’re on the water fishing. Lastly, we fill the reel seats with epoxy to ensure they do not break loose while you’re fighting a fish. It’s all hand–crafted quality here in the USA. See all Florida rods
Mostly thought of as boat rods used for close–to–-shore fishing. These rods are usually 6'–0" to 7'–10" with a vast array of line classes and lure ratings. See all In Shore rods
Usually 6'–6" or longer to get around and over the bow of the “yak”. Usually the same type of rod used for in–shore fishing and species of fish. See all Kayak rods
Deep–sea large pelagic species of fish; tuna, sharks, swordfish, sailfish, marlin. Rods vary from stubby 3'–0" to 7'–0" beef–sticks. See all Off Shore rods
The Local Hooker “PRO-SERIES” is a step above the norm. We have upgraded each rod to include the highest materials available and the price reflects it. In most cases, where available, you will notice the “Skinzwrap”. We have a patent-pending for the exclusive use for applying fish skin to the blank in place of a butt-wrap. Usually a bass skin, although we have had several fishermen send us Redfish skins we applied directly for them. The “Pro-Series” is the best-of-the-best we offer. See all Pro Series rods
With the travel industry upside–down these days, many anglers have to carry on their own gear and nothing is better than a good & reliable 2-piece or 3-piece travel rod. See all Travel rods
“ When fishing The Canyons, your gear has to be the best. Local Hooker Rods have never let us down and that’s why they are the only rods we use. ”
